FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Understand before you start.

Answers to questions about scope, data and deployment to help you prepare your project.

Where should I start my IT mapping?+

Choose a limited scope and a concrete objective: an important application, a site or an audit to prepare. Gather the available data, then complete the relationships before extending the map.

Do I need to fill in all six layers from the start?+

No. You can start with the layer and scope you know best, then enrich the map step by step. The Container layer applies to environments that use containers.

Can we import an existing inventory?+

Imports let you bring data into the model Cartographit expects. Preparing the fields, the quality of the names and checking the result remain essential.

How does a demo work?+

Choose a 30-minute or one-hour online slot to present your context and see the uses suited to your project. You can also write to us at contact@cartographit.com; we reply within 48 hours.

Do you offer training to get started?+

Yes. Three complementary modules cover getting started with Cartographit, structuring your IT map and one-off expert support. The programme is tailored to your teams and your scope.

Is Nixial listed with UGAP?+

Nixial has a page in UGAP’s library of software publishers. Contact us to clarify the purchasing arrangements that apply to your organisation and your needs.

Is Cartographit available On-Premise?+

Yes. Cartographit is available as SaaS or installed on the customer’s infrastructure. Preparing the deployment clarifies the operating responsibilities and the technical constraints.

Does mapping guarantee compliance?+

It helps document the scope, the components and their relationships. Compliance also depends on your organisation, your controls and the applicable requirements; it does not follow from using the software alone.

How do I keep the map up to date?+

Define the owners, the data sources and the events that trigger an update. Imports, connectors and the API can complement the teams’ contributions.

What is Cartographit Studio?+

Cartographit Studio is built into Cartographit and currently included in the Start, Advanced, Expert and Premium plans. Its analyses use the layers and data actually filled in for your project. It brings together six analysis modules: Carto Sentinel, Registre RGPD, Impact & PRA, Qualité, Plan d’action and Matrice de flux. A Rapports area centralises their deliverables and the evidence files.

Is Cartographit Studio included in the solution?+

Cartographit Studio is built into Cartographit and currently included in the Start, Advanced, Expert and Premium plans. Its analyses use the layers and data actually filled in for your project.

Do I need an existing map to use Studio?+

Yes. Studio works on an existing Cartographit project: objects, flows, processes, contacts and relationships. The quality and completeness of this data determine the analyses.

Does Studio produce a complete GDPR register automatically?+

Studio prepares the register from the information in the map and flags the missing fields. Legal bases, purposes and retention periods must be completed and validated with the people concerned.

How do Studio’s actions reach Cartographit?+

Proposed actions can be reviewed and edited in a preview, with an owner and a due date, before they are created in the Cartographit project.

What does the Matrice de flux check?+

The Matrice lists application, container and logical flows, then checks that their declarations are consistent between two containerised applications. Flows involving a data store or another type of object stay in the inventory, but outside the scope of this check.

What can be exported from Rapports?+

The reports of the six modules are centralised with a cross-module evidence file and the “Éléments de preuve NIS2” (NIS2 evidence). Exports state their scope and limits; the NIS2 export helps prepare an inspection and is neither a score nor a declaration of compliance.
